Quirk Logic Papyr is an 13.3” or A4 sized device. A4 size paper is the most widely used paper size in Europe and Asia. A4 size can be utilized in many different ways, such as for brochures, leaflets, magazines and flyers.
Traditionally PDF files come in this size. Making A4 sized devices most convenient for :-
- Reading PDFs/ Documents without the hassle of pinching in to zoom
- Making notes of these PDFs

Design
When it comes to design the device looks quite similar to the Sony DPT from the outside. The screen is completely flush with the bezel and not only does this make the device have a premium feel, it also provides a ton of benefits. You can easily draw edge to edge, which is quite useful for people who are editing a full screen PDF file.
On the top edge of the bezel we have a Micro USB port and a power button. The back of Papyr is of a soft finish, which looks as if made out of aluminum, instead of plastic. On either side of the bezel we have two little holes, this is designed to magnetically attach the stylus and it locks into place.
Overall design of the Quirk Logic Papyr is stylish and very minimalist. The front of the device has a very slim bezel and at the top of the screen is a soft key button that calls up the menu.
Display
The Quirk Logic Papyr has a 13.3 inch E-Ink Carta screen with a resolution of 2200 x 1650 and 207 PPI. Though the PPI may seem less when compared to smaller sized E Ink Tablet but it is somewhat of a standard in 13.3 inch or A4 sized devices. The screen is glare-free and has transreflective properties, making it suitable for outdoor reading.
Hardware
As said earlier the Hardware is the same as used in Sony DPT and the device was launched in 2021, which may seem outdated. But when compared to other E ink tablets The Papyr still packs a punch.
When it comes to additional features like backlit screens, g sensors, speakers and microphone than Quirk Logic Papyr is lacking behind the Onyx Boox devices.
Under the hood we have a 2000 mAh Battery (which I think is quite small) but resultantly it is shockingly light weight with but resultantly it is shockingly light weight, weighing only 349g.
With 1.2Ghz quad-core processor and 2 GB Ram it provides a decent experience but the refresh rate is quite slow.
Software
The Quirk Logic Paper stands out from Sony’s offering through its unique software and user interface elements. Quirk Logic has completely redesigned and revamped the software, resulting in a proprietary user experience. Upon startup, the device greets users with licensing information, which should be read thoroughly, although many users tend to skim through and agree. The software offers various features such as pinching and zooming, rotating, resizing, and swiping up from the corner to turn pages.
The device runs on android, however its not play store supported so 3rd party apps cannot be installed in the device.
But some features set it apart from rest in the market. Notably, the inclusion of Chrome on the device sets it apart from Sony’s offering. This demonstrates Quirk Logic’s commitment to providing a distinct and versatile digital note-taking experience.
User Interface
User Interface
The user interface is primarily workbook-centric, which means the focus is on the workbooks themselves. This simplicity eliminates distractions and ensures a seamless user experience. The workbook serves as your home screen on the device.
Main Menu and Device Settings
To access various features and options, you can utilize the main menu, represented by three dots in the upper-right corner. The main menu provides a range of actions and settings.
The device settings within the main menu include options like enabling Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi settings, device information, end-user license agreement (EULA), and more. Additionally, the home button on the device also provides access to device settings, including system, battery, e-writer settings, network settings, and session options.
Collaboration
The session options, located in the black toolbar or notification bar at the top, are primarily related to collaborative workbooks stored in the cloud. You can manage your workbook connections, session options, and receive notifications when someone shares a workbook with you. Currently, the option to hide the session toolbar is not available, but it is expected to be introduced in future updates.
Web Browser
The web browser feature allows you to browse the internet; however, it may not provide the smoothest browsing experience and lacks certain optimizations mainly because of a slower refresh rate.
Library and Workbooks
The library in Quirk Logic Paper resembles a home screen, but it is important to understand that the device is workbook-centric, and the workbooks serve as the primary interface. Within the library, you can perform the following actions:
- Create new folders and workbooks.
- Import PDFs and other documents.
- Access local and shared workbooks.
Note Taking Experience
The user interface of Paper is designed to be intuitive and efficient, allowing for a super-fast and agile workflow. Real-time collaboration is a standout feature, enabling seamless teamwork and eliminating the need for cumbersome steps like saving and sharing. With Paper, you can work collaboratively and experience a level of speed and agility that surpasses traditional methods.
Paper offers a range of workbook operations that enhance your productivity. To navigate through the workbook, a unique diagonal swipe gesture is employed, replacing conventional left, right, up, and down swipes.
Additionally, using the pen as a gesture input adds to the convenience. Pinch-to-zoom and two-finger panning gestures allow for easy navigation and scaling of the canvas. Double-tapping with two fingers enables quick access to previously focused areas.
The writing experience is fine but Quirk Logic Papyr has no hand writing recognition. Which I feel is turning out to be a standard for E Ink Tablets

Shapes and Selection Tools
Paper provides a variety of shapes, such as lines, rectangles, slanted rectangles, and arrows, to enhance visual communication. The selection tool allows you to easily choose and manipulate objects on the canvas.
Copying and Pasting Content
Copying and pasting content within Paper is a breeze. The contextual menu offers options to erase, copy, change color, and adjust thickness for selected objects. You can easily copy an item and store it in the clipboard for later use. The pasting feature allows you to insert content into different workbooks and pages, making it convenient for organizing and reusing information.

Cons
Let’s start by addressing some of the cons associated with the Quirk Logic Papyr. While this device has several strengths, it’s important to be aware of its limitations as well. Here are the notable cons:
1. Battery Life. The battery life of the Quirk Logic Papyr needs improvement., it is not the best in the market right now and hardly last a day as per our assessment.
2. Writing Latency. Currently, the writing latency of the device is slower compared to other similar products in the market. Although efforts are being made to improve this, it remains a concern for some users.
3. Pen Charging. The pen needs to be charged via USB, which can be inconvenient for users. It is essential to keep the pen charged to avoid running out of battery during usage.
4. Nib Durability. The gray nibs provided with the device wear out quickly. Unfortunately, replacement nibs are not yet available for purchase, but the company assures users that it is a top priority and will be resolved soon.
6. Processing Speed. The device may not be the fastest when it comes to processing and loading. While it performs well once a workbook is open, initial loading times and certain operations may be slower than desired.
7. UI/UX The Quirk Logic Papyr’s user interface and user experience may feel clunky and have some confusing elements. However, these aspects are expected to improve as the company gathers feedback and makes necessary adjustments.
