1. Tips To Increase your Battery Life
i. Update Your E-Reader
Make sure to keep your e-reader updated with the latest software version. The updates often include bug fixes and performance improvements, which can help optimize the battery life of your device.
Updating your Kindle is a simple process that can be done through the settings menu . By keeping your device up to date, you ensure that it is running at its best and that the battery is being used efficiently. Note: Your battery will go undergo rapid battery drain during an update.
ii. Turn on Airplane Mode
Many e-readers come with in-build features such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Turning off these features when not in use can help save battery life. If you need to access these features, turn them on as needed and then turn them off again. This makes the biggest difference in increasing the battery life. For Kindle Scroll down and click on the button.
iii. Adjust Screen Brightness:
Most E Readers use backlight to increase brightness. Lowering the screen brightness of your e-reader can significantly increase battery life especially during the day. Adjust the brightness to a comfortable level that allows you to read without straining your eyes.
Lowering the brightness to a level that is comfortable for you can help save power and extend the battery life of your device. If you’re reading in a well-lit room, you may be able to turn the brightness down even further. For Kindle Scroll down from top and adjust the screen brightness.
v. Keep Your E-Reader at Optimal Temperature
Extreme temperatures can negatively impact the battery life of your e-reader. Avoid exposing your device to high temperatures or leaving it in direct sunlight for extended periods.
Heat can cause the battery to degrade faster, which can shorten the overall lifespan of your device. If you’re reading outside, try to stay in the shade, or use a cover to protect your device from the sun. Similarly, if you’re reading in a cold environment, try to keep your device warm by holding it close to your body or using a cover (On a very cold day my kindle used to die at 10% battery).
vi. Downloading Several Books:
Another important thing to Extend the Battery Life of Your E-Reader on the go is to stop all downloads. It has been observed that indexing a book (or a failure to index a book) on Kindle can cause the battery to drain faster. So download your books in advance.
vii. Use Sleep Mode:
When your e-reader is in sleep mode, it uses very little power, which can help extend the battery life. Always turn on sleep mode when not in use.
viii. Use Power Saver Mode:
Some E Book Readers have power saver mode. This can Extend the Battery Life of Your E-Reader drastically.
For Kindle Go to Setting > Advanced Option > Power Saver Mode.
ix. Less frequent page refresh:
Alot of E readers come with the manual option of setting page refresh frequency. The less frequent the refresh, the longer the batter will take to run down. Make sure your device does not refresh the screen each time you turn the page and you will easily save some extra power and extend the battery life of your E-Reader
For Kindle Go to Settings > Reading Option > Turn off Page Refresh.
2. Tips to Keep Your Battery Healthy
Taking care of your e-reader’s battery can help ensure that it lasts as long as possible. As unlike phones you will stick to an E Reader for years. Here are a few tips to get the most out of your battery
- Avoid letting your device’s battery run completely flat before recharging it. T
- Try to keep the battery level between 20% and 80%.
- Overcharging your e-reader’s battery can also cause damage and shorten its lifespan. Make sure to unplug your device once it’s fully charged.
