Supernote has one of the best E Ink Tablets there is no doubt about that. Their devices are minimalistic, the writing is superb and the know what they are doing. 

On the  other hand Mobiscribe is somewhat an underdog in the E Ink Devices Market but they have come up with a very decent device in the form of Mobiscibe Wave B/W and Mobiscribe Color. There are the only E Ink Tablets for now in the market that are waterproof. 

Lets dive in and compare these two devices and find out which one should you buy.

Design

Mobiscribe Wave is quite  well-designed and resembles quite a lot like a Kindle Paperwhite. The feel is minimalistic and no buttons at the front.  The screen is not flushed but it doesn’t cause a lot of trouble while writing with the stylus. At  the front you have holes for the speakers at the top just above the screen. The body is made out of plastic.

Ratta Supernote A5x is very well-designed and pleasing to the eyes. The feel is minimalistic and premium. The device has a plastic body with edges with right angle design, making it look a bit chunkier 

Overall is terms of design the Supernote feels more elegant to look at.

Supernote A6x

  • The Supernote has a wider bezel at the bottom with a touch slider on the right bezel.
  • The plastic casing and screen of the device, which makes it very light (255g ).
  • The backside doesn’t have rubber feet and may slip on very smooth surfaces

Mobiscribe Wave

  • There is a dedicated front light button on the top right next to the power button.
  • The body is made of plastic but doesn’t feel cheap
  • Only E Ink Tablet in the market which is waterproof
  • The device is top heavy making it a bit awkward to hold for long durations.
  • Mobiscribe is heavier and thicker than the Supernote A6x

Display

The displays of the Mobiscribe Wave and Supernote A6x are quite similar. The pixel density, screen resolution, and screen size are the same. However the Screens of both the devices are made of different materials. 

The Supernote screen is made of plastic and a bit softer that is why it gets its signature feel of Writing with a gel pen over a business card. While the screen of the Mobiscribe is also made of plastic it has a more gritty texture.  

Supernote A6x

  • Supernote uses a plastic Mobius Carta screen. Its more flexible and lighter. 
  • Supernote claims that its screen never breaks making it a better option for careless forks .
  • The device has no backlight or warm lights.

Mobiscribe Wave

  • The Screen contrast and Greyscale is customizable 
  • It has Backlit screen with warm light as well as  light sensors.

The Supernote A6x comes with a lot of Stylus options you can choose different styluses and different colors. . They have also collaborated with companies like Lamy for premium writing pens. 

MobiScribe Wave comes with a in the box pen. Despite its all-plastic construction, the pen offers surprising quality and usability. Its hexagonal design makes it easy to hold, and its slim, elongated form contributes to a well-balanced feel in hand. While it might not exude luxury, the pen’s functionality shines through.

Supernote A6x

  • The feel is more like a gel pen over a high gloss printed paper but it feels good in its own way.
  • The stylus is magnetic, but the tablet itself is not. Therefore, a case/folio with a pen loop is needed.
  • The pen comes with a cap so the nip is more secure.
  • The heart of metal comes with a ceramic tips that do not wear down and never need to be replaced. 

Mobiscribe Wave

  • The Pen Comes in the box and works surprisingly well.
  • Has eraser at the back.
  • The nibs are a bit gritty and wear out quickly however you can replace them with other nibs.

Note Taking

The Supernote is considered on of the best note taking device. It has a minimalistic UI with decent templates and pen options. The writing feel is great and the pen response excellent.  On the other hard the Mobiscribe provides a surprising great note taking experience for the price tag it is no match to the Supernote.

Over all the note taking experience in the Supernote is better for the Mobiscribe

Supernote A6x

  • Navigation is made even easier with the side touch slider.
  • The note taking UI has multiple brushes, shades and templates.
  • The device has folder/sub-folder hierarchy and files can be sorted by name, modified date and size.
  • The tagging system is much advanced with keywords set at the notebook page level.
  • The annotations function includes actual text extraction. Also you can read & edit word documents as well
  • The Supernote can export notebooks as PDF, PNG, DOCX or TXT file formats. These are stored in an EXPORT folder, which can then be synced or shared.

Mobiscribe Wave

  • The note taking UI has multiple shades and templates.
  • You can search your hand written notes 
  • Mobishare screen share can help you share you notes live
  • The annotations function includes actual text extraction. Also you can read & edit word documents as well. It also has a lasso feature

Reading

In terms of reading experience, The amount of customization and features that Mobiscribe has cannot be found in the Supernote. So, Mobiscribe takes the lead here

Supernote A5x

  • Supernote A5x supports ePub, PDF, and Word documents, as well as PNG and JPG image formats.
  • However, you can install the Kindle app on the Supernote to get access to almost all of these reading features
  • There is no backlit screen, light and G sensors in the device.
  • You can also scribble notes on them and annotate them
  • The weight is lesser so its more comfortable for prolonged reading sessions

Mobiscribe Wave 

  • The device has android 12 and you can install any third party reading app including Kindle
  • There is  backlit screen, light and G sensors in the device for landscape view  making it great for reading 
  • You can also scribble notes on PDFs and annotate them but not ePubs over all annotation is better in the Supernote.
  • The device is waterproof so you can use it in pool or beach. 

Hardware & Software

The Supernote A6x was launched in 2020 and the hardware is a bit outdated when compared to Mobscribe Wave but it still packs and punch. It runs on its own tailored Android which does not have full android capabilities and google play store but we are hoping to see a google play store soon. 

Being a newer device the Mobiscribe Wave has a far superior hardware. The device runs on Android 12 and has the support of Google Play store.  

Supernote A6x

  • Runs on Quad-core processor with 2 GB of memory and 32Gb of storage.
  • Device lacks key features like backlit screen and g sensors.
  • Supernote A6x has a larger battery (2900mAh) and the absence of Backlights and sensors makes its last longer

Mobiscribe Wave

  • Wave has a 1.5 Quad-core processor with 4 Gb RAM.
  • The storage is only 64Gb which is more than enough.
  • It has speakers and microphone along with Bluetooth for audiobooks
  • The device has a G sensor and a light sensor for auto brightness. 

Costumer Service

When it comes to Costumer Service nothing beats the Supernote. Supernote’s small but solid community is always active and has a strong relationship with their users . They also provide regular updates and are eager for costumer feedback, and updating or designing there devices based on this feedback is part of their ethos. 

Price

In terms of pricing, the Supernote comes with a hefty price tag especially if you add in the premium pen. Whereas the Mobiscribe Wave might be the cheapest E Ink Tablets with such great specs.

Final Verdict

Both Supernote A6x and Mobiscribe Wave come with their own pros and cons and the best device mainly depends on your intended use.

If you are looking for Excellent note taking and writing experience with sleek and premium looking device then Supernote A6x is the best device for that. 

If you are more into reading and want something that has a decent writing experience, act as a great E Reader and is budget friendly than Mobiscribe Wave is a great option to consider.
